The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion signs MoU with Moresby North West Electorate to train 10 000 women.
The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion Executive Director Saliya Ranasinghe and Member for Moresby North West Hon. Lohia Boe Samuel signed the partnership today to deliver Financial Literacy Training in the MNW electorate targeting 10,000 women.
The modality of training will be delivered through CEFI’s training-of-trainers program for 100 MNW trainers who will deliver the financial literacy training to 5 wards in the electorate with a target reach of 10,000 women.
The objective is to empower women of MNW to become empowered, self-reliant and financially literate when it comes to managing money for their household budget and apply for Micro and SME Loans from licensed financial institutions.
“In the next 12 to 18 months’ time, womenfolk of MNW will have bank accounts, generate bank statements, prepare 12 months cash flows, have NID cards and become financially empowered through the Basic Financial Literacy training they will obtain from this partnership arrangement with CEFI.”
“In the long term, we plan on setting up ‘incubation hubs’ for our women of MNW to come and sell their products and services, training, mentoring, and skills transfer and knowledge transfer, expos and marketing promotions.” Hon. Samuel stated.
CEFI Executive Director Saliya Ranasinghe states, “Having access to a bank account is the first fundamental step in preparing our women to be financially empowered. This is part of the broader financial inclusive strategy promoted by the National Government through its Financial Inclusion Policy and the office of Moresby North West fully supports it.

“CEFI is the custodian of the the training-of-trainer program in country and will work closely with Moresby North-West electorate to ensure the target numbers are met.
