Global Money Week


The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI) in collaboration with the Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) will be hosting a series of events between the 25 – 31 of March to celebrate the 2019 Global Money Week (GMW). 

GMW, a Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) initiative, is an annual financial awareness campaign built to inspire children and young people to learn about money matters, livelihoods and entrepreneurship.

In light of the Global Money Week, the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion is organizing a Global Money Week Art Contest.

CEFI Global Money Week Art Contest Guidelines


 Entry is free and limited to one per student. Artwork will be judged by age group in three categories:  Grades 1-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12 (Divisions I, II, and III, respectively). Entries must be postmarked by Friday, March 22, 2019.


All entries must embrace the theme of LEARN, SAVE and EARN. All original work must be conceptualized, developed, and created exclusively by the student, without assistance from an adult showcasing their creativity on what they think or understand by the theme: LEARN, SAVE and EARN.


  • Artwork must be two-dimensional and completely dried or fixed.
  • Maximum entry size is 18 x 24 inches.
  • Acceptable mediums include: drawing (colored or graphite pencil, ink, pastel, crayon, chalk, marker, or charcoal) Pastels and charcoals must be protected with a fixative spray; painting (acrylic, watercolor, or oil); printmaking (block print, monoprint, collagraph, serigraph, or lithograph); mixed media (including collage) Materials may extend up to one inch from the surface.
  • Non-allowed media include photography, digital art/graphics, animation, ceramics, sculpture, or other 3-D work.
  • Images traced with the use of a projector or other mechanical means are prohibited.
  • Works on paper should be matted to protect the artwork. Works on stretched canvas or canvas board do not need to be matted.
  • No framed artwork will be accepted.
  • All entrants must complete the contest entry and artist statement forms and submit the information electronically to info@thecefi.org . The completed forms also must be printed out and submitted with the entrant’s original artwork. This can be done via mail or dropped off at the CEFI Office located on Level 1, Post Office Building, Downtown, NCD, Port Moresby.

 Judging Criteria

  • Technique: The student chooses and utilizes media and tools completely to enhance the appearance of the artwork.
  • Personal Expression: The student’s artwork reflects imagination, creativity, and individuality in line with the theme. The result is distinctive, and the concept is presented in a unique way signifying and highlighting the messages in the theme.
  • Organization: The student demonstrates use of art principles, effectively selecting those that enhance the overall appearance of the artwork.
  • Integration: The student combines technique, expression, and organization through artistic and critical judgment to achieve an effective interpretation or result. 


Selected Judges will select a total of 9 works of art, representing First, Second, and Third places in each age Division. All artwork becomes the property of The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI). Announcements will be made on the week of March 25th, 2019.


All those who submitted artwork will receive a Certificate and winners will get cash prize.
