Online training for women-led businesses

The “Training and Mentoring Program for Women-Led Businesses”, is a partnership initiative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) and is implemented by the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI). In the initial phase the program aims to train/coach at least 170 urban-based women small- and medium-sized entrepreneurs (WSMEs) with strong growth potential. It is designed to address the constraints WSMEs face to access finance and to operate in the COVID-19 environment and will be held online.

The program is now calling for WSMEs in urban localities to apply for the Digital Financial Literacy Training set to start on 27 July 2021. Interested parties may download the application form.

The objectives of the training are to:

  1. Identify the challenges faced by WSMEs in accessing digital financial services and to find ways to address these challenges;
  2. Enhance the participants’ knowledge of the available digital products and services offered by different financial institutions; and
  3. Encourage the participants to use these available digital financial products to help them transform and expand their businesses.

The Digital Financial Literacy training is the first of the tri-edged training approach prepared by CEFI. The following supplemental trainings will be expected in the coming months.

  1. E-Commerce – The objective of this training is to help WSMEs understand the use of e- commence platforms in PNG and use these platforms to boost sales and profits.
  2. Business Skills and Debt Management – The objective of this training is to enhance the participants’ business and debt management skills to learn how to make credit work for them.

Follow up coaching and mentoring support will be given to the participants after each training session. These sessions will be held online or onsite depending on the COVID-19 situation.

We encourage the applicants to send the filled out form via email to info@thecefi.org.  Alternatively, the application form can be sent through mail, attention to CEFI GESI Coordinator, Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion, PO Box 1692, Port Moresby, NCD, and Papua New Guinea.
